Early Morning

4:30 a.m.
Baby cries.
Baby eats.
Daddy changes baby's diaper.
Baby eats again.
Mommy changes baby's diaper.

** Spit up everywhere **

5:45 a.m.
Mommy showers.
Baby cries.
Daddy consoles.
Baby stares at the mobile and coos.
Mom can't sleep, so she puts a load of laundry in the washing machine.
Baby cries.
Baby eats.

7:00 a.m.

Baby sleeps.

Now, if only church started earlier here, we would be right on schedule. We're fortunate that this is NOT our typical morning, because we're the type of people who need our sleep. Overall, Oliver is a good sleeper and eater, so we are very grateful.

I'm off to make myself some breakfast while the boys sleep.

Nursery Inspiration

I recently found a new shop that has begun inspiring new ideas for the baby and the nursery. I want to create several of my own characters that I intend to use for decorations, but Nordic Kids could inspire me for hours. Below are just a few of my favorites.

Since most of this is too out of our budget, I'll use the designs as inspiration, and do most of our shopping in IKEA.
On another note: I've even made a shop of my favorite kids' toys; I'm calling it Play Time.

Renewal

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world , but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test an approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will."
- Romans 12: 1-2

Spring is a time of renewal. It's a time when the trees begin blooming after a dead, cold winter. Likewise, this is a good time for our lives to be renewed.

I've decided to give Handke Home a new look and an opportunity to tell the story of Luke and I from our new home. We moved here last fall, and have begun establishing a place where we are developing new friendships, work, and a renewed spiritual journey.

I'll be publishing images and sharing stories about our lives from time to time. For now, enjoy the changes that you may begin seeing both outdoors and as you may allow God to renew you.

Community Gardening, Brewing, & aRt

So much has happened since I last updated our blog, but I'm now on a mission to update and inform you of all that happens in our lives [if you really care]. As a combined effort, Luke and I have been consumed with our community gardening projects. I have made excellent strides in pursuing my aRt endeavors, and Luke has been passionately pursuing his interest in home brewing. Other than this, we have had my mom visit, Luke's brother, Lee visit us, and we also took off on a short trip to New Hampshire. [The White Mountains are absolutely beautiful!] Who knows where we'll go or what we'll do next. As far as tomorrow is concerned, I believe we're going to be watching the fireworks on the Esplanade here in Boston.
