Wee See

When he's not chewing and drooling, Oliver seems to really be fascinated with these short clips from the Wee See videos.

"With great sensitivity to the delicate nature of the audience, Wee See’s animations move methodically slow and maintain an extraordinary simplicity yet remain endlessly inventive."

Early Morning

4:30 a.m.
Baby cries.
Baby eats.
Daddy changes baby's diaper.
Baby eats again.
Mommy changes baby's diaper.

** Spit up everywhere **

5:45 a.m.
Mommy showers.
Baby cries.
Daddy consoles.
Baby stares at the mobile and coos.
Mom can't sleep, so she puts a load of laundry in the washing machine.
Baby cries.
Baby eats.

7:00 a.m.

Baby sleeps.

Now, if only church started earlier here, we would be right on schedule. We're fortunate that this is NOT our typical morning, because we're the type of people who need our sleep. Overall, Oliver is a good sleeper and eater, so we are very grateful.

I'm off to make myself some breakfast while the boys sleep.

9 Months Passes By Quickly

We're so happy to share that our baby is healthy and trucking along just fine in the womb. We've begun visiting the clinic once a week, and we love hearing the heart beat. Today, he/she had the hiccups. It made us laugh.
Painting
I'm posting this, because I'm more than motivated to get the painting completed for the nursery before the little one makes the grand appearance. Here's a sneak preview of what's happening with the painting. More photos are sure to come soon. I'm working on it tonight.

30 Days Until our Due Date

We bought this little pumpkin for our pumpkin a couple of weeks ago. We're getting excited to share this fall with our little one!
our little pumpkin

This past weekend really was a baby weekend. We went to several yard sales with our friends on Saturday and picked up some gently used infant clothing. Then, we visited Babies 'R Us and updated the registry. After that, Luke hung a shelf, and we figured out how to install the car seat. Such great feats we're accomplishing. We almost feel like parents.

Now we're off to more birthing classes.

Changing Positions

The child has made my life a little less comfortable today. I believe he/she was awake most of the night, and I don't know that I've had a moment without movement today. What a busy little one!

Anyway, here are a couple of self portraits. We're preparing for that last month of pregnancy. It's a beautiful time in our lives, and we look forward to meeting our little one.

49 days until Baby is Due!

yellow pineapple
I'm 33 weeks along right now, so this means that the baby will be arriving sometime soon! I just read that the baby is currently the shape of a pineapple. Fitting, since I'm working on a new screen print of a pineapple. The Baby Center says that our little bundle of joy "is proportioned like a pineapple when it comes to weight -- a little over 4 pounds." And the length is more than 17 inches, head to heel. The Bump, on the other hand, says that I'm carrying around a honeydew.

I feel like I still have so much to do and quite a few items that we still need to purchase, including diapers. I need not stress, because I know that I have some diapers and diaper covers on the way. This is merely one of the diaper covers we'll be getting!

The First 1000 Days

We received the book, The First 1000 Days, by Nikki McClure today. Nikki McClure is an artist from Olympia, Washington who is known for her painstakingly intricate and beautiful paper cuts. Armed with an X-acto knife, she cuts out her images from a single sheet of paper and creates a bold language that translates the complex poetry of motherhood, nature, and activism into a simple and endearing picture.

This journal will be the perfect space to share about our baby's firsts!

And... this is a nice interview with Nikki McClure.

Fused Bibs

The Pretty Bean makes these adorable bibs, and I just received them in the mail. These bibs are made from fused plastic bags, and they're not only eco-friendly, but they'll be easy to clean. I think they'll be perfect for keeping Baby Handke a little bit cleaner! My personal favorite is the Milka one. Of course, that's probably because we have an affinity for Milka chocolate.

WINNERS!

We're blessed that we have won a brand new Bugaboo Cameleon from Magic Beans. I entered their contests as soon as I found out about them this month. They still have one giveaway that they're offering today, so you should rush on over there and sign up to win one of six prizes!

We were planning on purchasing this stroller today, and now we don't have to. We had saved some money from the tag sale that I held a couple of weekends ago, and we were ready to take the plunge. Of course we weren't planning on purchasing a Bugaboo, because it was out of our price range. Thankfully, we don't have to make a stroller purchase at all now!

Well, maybe our baby will be spoiled as we stroll through the neighborhoods, but once the little tike gets into our car, he/she will have a reality check. Plus, we're trying to keep everything in the nursery very simple, as I'm either creating it, buying it used, or we're spending very little at IKEA.

Biking with Kids

Next year, I hope to be able to go on a bike ride or two with our little one.

And if we could all afford a sweet new ride, this may be the one. It's the new Stroller-bike by Taga. Although this is cool, I think I'll settle for one of the rides above.

Taga's for sale in the UK for £1,695.00.
